A BIT OF HISTORY

Back in 1907, an agreement was reached between the Municipality of Cervia and the Maffei Family from Milan who received a large piece of land north of Cervia upon which, in exchange, they had to build an number of villas, parks and gardens so as to transform the area into a new holiday resort which was then called Milano Marittima.
 
The new town, inaugurated in 1912, was designed to become a “Garden City”- according to Ebenezer Howard’s principles -  where all the buildings had to perfectly fit into the natural landscape which had to be totally preserved.
